Capillex films are typically classified by application as thin, medium, or thick films.
Thin film applications
are primarily high quality graphics such as four colour halftone printing and fine line graphics/industrial applications. Inks used for these applications include solvent based and conventional UV curable inks. Mesh counts range from 100 – 180 threads per cm (250 – 460 threads per inch). Capillex CP/18/20
Medium film applications
are typically line printing and some coarse halftone imaging. Inks used for these applications are usually solvent based. Mesh counts range from 77 – 100 threads per cm (200 – 250 threads per inch). Capillex CX/25/30/35
Thick film applications
are usually for Industrial applications such as peelable masks, printed gaskets etc. Inks used for these applications are usually solvent based. Mesh counts range from 25 – 77 threads per cm (63 – 200 threads per inch). Capillex 50/80
Controlled Profile Films
MacDermid Autotype controlled profile films are probably the biggest single breakthrough in precision printing stencil technology in the last decade. Capillex CP and Capillex CX produce stencils that control the two most critical factors; stencil thickness and stencil roughness.
Capillex CP
Capillex CP has been specifically formulated for ultra fine halftone and line printing. It gives a controlled stencil profile over a wide mesh range from 120/cm and finer. The low stencil profile and optimised Rz gives superb dot reproduction and minimises the skipping effects often seen when printing fine halftones with UV ink. Capillex CP can be used with conventional UV and solvent based inks.
Capillex CX
The low stencil profile and optimised Rz gives superb print reproduction and minimises the thick edges normally seen when trying to achieve good print definition on coarse to medium mesh counts, especially when using high build inks. Capillex CX will give a thin, flat, but tough stencil on all coarse to medium mesh counts. It is this thin, flat stencil that minimises the ink build at the track edges to produce a cleaner more reliable print that can not only save ink but also reduce wastage.
