Membrane Touch Switch (MTS) Manufacturing
Membrane Touch Switch (MTS) Manufacturing MacDermid Autotype introduced hardcoated polyester film and lacquer systems into the membrane touch switch (MTS) market in 1986. This introduction led to a major change in the materials specified for the construction of MTS. Until this launch the standard material used was polycarbonate films. The MacDermid Autotype polyester film range offered and still offers some key benefits over polycarbonate. The hardcoat on the films provides excellent scratch and chemical resistance, the switch life of the films exceed 5 million actuations even when embossed, ensuring the MTS works throughout the life time of the equipment. The film ranges are available with either a textured surface - Autotex, or a gloss or antiglare surface - Autoflex. The films are also complimented with the Windotex and Fototex lacquers. Windotex is a screen printable windowing lacquer which can be printed onto Autotex to produce clear, transparent windows. Fototex is a screen printable texturing lacquer which can be selectively printed onto Autoflex to produce a textured surface.

Today MacDermid Autotype is at the forefront of film coating technology for the electronics industry. Since the launch of the hardcoated film range in 1986, Autotype has been established as a market leader with its film range for the MTS market. The unique properties of Autotype films enable MTS keypads to operate with total reliability in even the most hazardous or demanding environments, meeting the needs of designers for durable and effective touch and vision interfaces on a diverse range of industrial and domestic equipment.
