History
The dictionary definition of Autotype is:- 'autotype, a photographic process, an exact copy, a facsimile' and today, over 140 years later, we are still producing products that will help our customers produce prints that are as close as possible to the original design.
The origins of Autotype started with a discovery by Sir Joseph William Swan (the inventor of the incandescent light bulb) of the hardening action that UV light had on sensitised gelatine and the patent he filed led to the launch of The Autotype Printing and Publishing Company.
The foundations of Autotype are based on innovation and technological advances and these are still the cornerstones of our company. For a fascinating insight into the history of Autotype.
