Wantage is a small market town, part of the Vale of White Horse District Council. The town has many shops and restaurants and a rich historic tradition going back to the IX century. The town's population is just under 10,000 and unemployment is very low thanks to the presence of a number of high-technology industries. There is a large secondary school with a very good reputation for academic achievement and as a specialist sport college.
